The Yogi Home

We would like to recognise the origional custodians of the land in which our training takes place; Cavanbah (meeting place) was the Arakwal name for Byron Bay as it was here the northern and southern tribes of the Bundjalung Nation met.

Situated on the most peaceful side of Byron Bay, surrounded by National park and beach walks nearby to put your mind and body at ease during the immersive training. You will be living the full Byron lifestyle with the local shops and cafe's a short walk or bike ride into town.

The Yogi home is a place where you come to grow, connect.

Preface

Becoming a Yoga teacher is like gaining a ticket to freedom for life!

Not just freedom to have a career and job which looks after you and can grow in a multitude of different directions, but also the freedom from he conditional mind; allowing you to see.

We have a buddhist and Taoist philosophy at Barefoot Yoga. Our teachers practice these philosophies in their daily lives and are able to offer mentorship on how you too can live a Yogic lifestyle.

It's important to note that is not just about teaching, it's about living. When you teach Yoga, you are embodying the philosophy that you choose to practice by, translating what happens on the mat, back into your daily life and vice verser.

This Level 1 certification is just the beginning, you may like to take it further and complete studies in Chinese Medicine, Energy healing and advanced teaching with us. But for now, we will focus on taking the first step towards changing your life forever...

Is this course right for you?

Are you destined to be a Teacher?

This course is for those who wish to expand in self development and teach Yoga, as a school which priorities quality over quantity, we limit our numbers to 8 students. The Barefoot ethos is influenced by the Buddhist Eight fold path which can be likened to and will be studied alongside the Eight Limbs of Yoga, to do this, we must begin a deep healing process one of self enquiry and honesty. One thing many people don't realise when they sign up to this immersion is the level of growth that will be undertaken, you will be challenged throughout the course, this is where the real practice of Yoga begins - not in trying to touch your toes, but in self mastery beyond flexibility and strength.

If you are someone looking for a course which prioritises peak postures over tradition and a well rounded practice, then we recommend going to a different school. We are not about the mainstream hybridised Yoga. Our Lead trainers question everything and have endeavoured to dig up the best science and spiritual meanings behind their Yoga practices to help bridge the gap between Eastern and Western beliefs. Our Lead trainers, Adam and Jess have completed all of their own Yoga trainings in India and are passionate about translating these teachings to more students throughout the western society in the most authentic, yet scientific way. They are also qualified across a broad range of fields, but mainly study neuroscience, anatomy, psychophysiology and Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.

This course revolves around creating a family - therefore we appreciate and practice, mindful eating, family time, movie nights, story time, non-awkward silences and deep and meaningful connections and conversations.

Holistic health and nutrition is what we are equally as passionate about, therefore we will be delivering nothing but the BEST seasonal organic foods, there won't be any processed food available, (including vegan alternative meats and butters etc). Our food choices are based off a holistic approach, designed to encompass the seasons, circadian rhythms and local produce. This plan is upheld by Jess, who is also a Nutritional therapist and lovingly prepared by our wonderful Organic gourmet chef from GG's Organic Wellness, Angela. We don't believe in extreme dieting - therefore, we only cater for allergies & intolerances only. Whole food Vegan and vegetarian organic food with occasional fish on Sushi nights. Get ready to be totally inspired and amazed by how delicious the food is! You will find the lunch times a fantastic opportunity to prepare your own food or enjoy some time out of the house. This is also done to make sure you can balance your diet where you feel necessary and enjoy the local eateries and cafe's to create a more full experience whilst living in Byron.

We are a small family owned school and can't wait to welcome you into our home!

" loved the course content and the flexibility of the classes. Really enjoyed learning because the teachers were methodical, patient, encouraging, approachable and and passionate. I appreciated all the little extra touches and it really did feel like a family by the end of the course. Well worth immersing yourself in the course for the 3 weeks and I gained so much more than a certificate from this experience. I made new friends and am feeling extremely inspired to continue on this journey of growth! Thanks to Adam & Jess! "

FAQ's

Do I have to be fully vaccinated to join this training?

As stated on the NSW government website, hotels and similar accommodation settings only states that it is 'recommended' for patrons to be vaccinated, it is not mandatory. We will be following the government guidelines here. We can issue a copy of our Government approved COVID safe plan  if you wish. Please view the following link: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/business/safety-plans/accommodation

I have a very restrictive diet, can this be catered for or can I arrange my own food?

Depending on what your restriction is we might be able to help, Typically speaking we cater for:

Gluten free, dairy free,  vegetarian, vegan. We could also discuss a different package for you but it is important to understand that our core values are family time which includes eating together. It may be too much to be studying full time and preparing your own food. Let's chat and see what we can do.
